Tonearm flex

... this Tonearm is truly a gamechanger in my analog setup ...
T.K.

The tonearm flex represents a new approach in analog music playback. Designed for the highest precision and maximum adaptability, the flex combines innovative bearing technology with a unique modular design.

At its core is a specially developed magnetic bearing that operates in both the horizontal and vertical planes (gimbal-mounted). This design enables absolutely frictionless and play-free movement of the tonearm and creates ideal conditions for exceptionally precise tracking of the record.
At the same time, flex opens up new possibilities for configuration. The user can replace almost all parts themselves. The most important part is the tonearm tube, which can be completely removed and replaced with a shorter or longer one.

Technology

The Tonearm Tube

Is made of lightweight, torsion-resistant carbon. It is constructed from a single piece and features strong “asymmetrical” damping. The energy from the stylus that is not converted into electrical current is dissipated within the tonearm tube.

The Magnetic Bearing

Consists of a pair of magnets on one side and a thread on the opposite side. This thread keeps the magnets apart. It is made up of 20,000 individual filaments, each only a few micrometers thick.

The Tonearm Cable

Consists of solid-core copper wires that have been cryogenically treated multiple times. The channels are individually routed and slightly twisted, ensuring symmetrical signal transmission. Contrary to the general trend toward as many layers of shielding as possible, this cable is unshielded and operates completely free of hum or interference. The cartridge connectors (also known as clips) are made of fine silver and are definitely nickel-free.

The Electrical Connection

The KLE Innovations Classic Harmony RCA jacks serve as the “gold standard.” RCA connectors are widely used, so there is access to a wide variety of cables. Of course, I can also accommodate any other conceivable connection, including “through-wiring.”

The Counterweight

It is divided into two sections. There are various counterweights, so that the effective mass of the tonearm can be significantly altered by appropriately combining the weights and by adjusting the tonearm’s position within the bearing.

The Turntable Stand

Somehow, the arm has to be mounted on the turntable. Feel free to get creative with me on this. By default, the mounting pin has a diameter of 25.4 mm (1 inch). I can adjust this diameter to a different size upon request. However, an even better solution is to use a mounting plate with a slotted hole and the shuttle, as shown in the pictures above.
